KBShimmer Birthstone Collection

First post of 2016 and it’s a good one – swatches of KBShimmer‘s newly released Birthstone Collection!

This collection is inspired by each month’s traditional, modern, or alternative birthstone, and is in a new finish for KBShimmer –  a metallic type finish with holographic sparkle and micro-small metallic flakes.  Basically if “Foiled” and “Yule Worthy” had a baby (and added sparkle) this collection would be it!

Each polish in this collection covers in two fantastic coats! Formulas are very smooth and are super easy to apply and control. Leveling and dry times are exceptional. Removal is actually quite easy as each polish is mostly comprised of micro silver metallic flakes in a jelly base. Any left over micro glitter/holo is easily removed simply by washing your hands. 🙂

All swatches were taken indoors under a combination of Cree daylight and LED bulbs using a Samsung NX300 camera. All swatches shown are two coats with NO top coat!

January – “Garnet”

First up is Garnet – a deepened burgundy red polish loaded with metallic flakes and scattered holo. I’m totally digging the dark and vampy feel of this polish! So pretty! ❤

February – “Amethyst”

Amethyst is a rich red toned purple loaded with metallic flakes and scattered holo. I’m usually not one for purples but I love the vibrant purple shade of this polish! One of my favorites from the collection!

March – “Aquamarine”

Aquamarine is a very light, pale blue polish filled with metallic flakes and scattered holo. You might want to put your shades on when you apply this polish because it’s crazy reflective! Even with all of that shine, the gorgeous pale blue hue still shows through 🙂

April – “Diamond”

Diamond is pale silver polish filled with metallic flakes and scattered holo. There is extra holographic added to this polish to bring out the reflective shine. I felt so fancy wearing this polish! It’s true what they say – Diamonds are a girl’s best friend and this polish is mine!

May – “Emerald”

Emerald is a rich grass green polish loaded with metallic flakes and scattered holo. Could this polish be any more beautiful?! I feel like I’m in Oz and I’m staring straight at Emerald City!

June – “Black Pearl”

Black Pearl is a dusty black toned polish with scattered holo and metallic flakes. The metallic flakes in this polish adds a golden hue that gives this polish a warm blackened green look. I love that KBShimmer went with a non-traditional birthstone for June’s polish which so happens to be my birth month! 🙂

July – “Ruby”

Ruby is a warm blue toned red loaded with metallic flakes and scattered holo. Just like an actual ruby, this polish is so vibrant!

August – “Peridot”

Peridot is a pale lime green with metallic flakes and scattered holo. The light lime green shade makes this polish almost white gold-esque which I think looks absolutely lovely!

September – “Sapphire”

Sapphire is a rich navy leaning blue loaded with metallic flakes and scattered holo. This baby is the star of the show! So absolutely gorgeous – I almost can’t stand it! If you only get one polish from this collection, make sure it’s this one! You will not regret it! ❤

October – “Pink Tourmaline”

Pink Tourmaline is a vibrant pink loaded with metallic flakes. The metallic flakes look great against the bright pink base. Super fun and girly!

November – “Citrine”

Citrine is a true golden yellow with metallic flakes and scattered holo. This polish is liquid gold! So bright, so reflective, so awesome!

December – “Blue Topaz”

Last up is Blue Topaz – an icy blue polish with metallic flakes and scattered holo. This is another one of my favorites! So perfect for not just December but the entire winter season!

Overall Thoughts

This collection makes me so happy! I absolutely love Talk Qwerty to Me (Fall 2015 Collection) and Yule Worthy (Winter 2015 Collection) so when I saw the email for this collection I was so excited! Formulas are excellent – as with all KBShimmer polishes! These polishes are all so vibrant and reflective and represent their respective birthstone so well – whether traditional or non-traditional.

My favorites are Sapphire, Blue Topaz, Peridot, Amethyst, and Emerald! I could pick a couple more but then that would be the whole collection 😉

This collection is available for purchase here for $8.75 USD each or $100 USD for the whole collection.

And get this! 12 lucky buyers will win a birthstone jewelry piece purchased from JewelryTV! For each month’s polish that you purchase (between now and January 8th), you get one entry to win that corresponding birthstone jewelry item pictured in the listing! How awesome!

You can check out KBShimmer on TwitterFacebook, and Instagram for more!

What are your thoughts on this collection? Which polishes are your favorites?

These polishes were provided for my honest review.

  2. I just picked up Pink Tourmaline as a tester to see how I’d like these compared to ILNP’s Ultra Metallics. It really lives up to the hype! Incredibly sparkly and gorgeous.
