Time for another fall collection swatch and review! This time it’s OPI‘s Fall 2015 Venice Collection.

The OPI Venice Collection brings us romantic colors inspired by the Baroque period decadence. This collection consists of fifteen polishes total – twelve of which are being moved directly into the OPI permanent line making the other three limited edition shades.

Let’s jump right in, shall we?

All swatches were taken indoors under Cree Daylight bulbs using a Samsung NX300 camera.

Limited Edition Shades

“Baroque… But Still Shopping”

Baroque… But Still Shopping is a light gold metallic shimmer with gold hex and square glitters. Shown here is two coats plus top coat. While the formula and application are quite nice, I’m just not a fan of how this looks. I love the individual components of this polish but together it just doesn’t mix. The glitters negatively affect the polish by adding what looks like a rippled effect to the metallic shimmer base. From the bottle it looks great but unfortunately, I can’t say the same for when it’s on my nails.

“St. Marks the Spot”

St. Mark’s the Spot is a slightly shimmery royal blue metallic. Shown here is two coats plus top coat. The formula is great and surprisingly not very streaky like most metallics. I LOVE this shade and as an added plus, I think it compliments my skin tone very well!

“Venice the Party?”

Venice the Party? is a shimmery bright turquoise metallic. Shown here is two coats plus top coat. As with the previous polish, this one also has a great formula and minimal visible brush strokes. Another shade of blue that I completely adore!

Permanent Line Shades

“A Great Opera-tunity”

A Great Opera-tunity is a light peach creme. Shown here is two coats plus top coat. Super impressed with the formula here! Application was really easy and coverage was top notch which definitely surprised me!

“Amore at the Grand Canal”

Amore at the Grand Canal is a cool toned rich red creme. Shown here is two coats plus top coat. Great formula but be very careful with application as this polish will stain your skin (as you can see on my index, oops!). Make sure to wear a good base coat to prevent it from staining your nails.

“Be There in a Prosecco”

Be There in a Prosecco is a pale ivory creme. Shown here is three thin coats plus top coat. This is the first of two nudes in the collection which as you can see isn’t really nude on me (lol) but I don’t mind – I think the contrast actually works in my favor. Formula wise it’s not bad for the type of shade. I had slight patchiness after the second coat but the third covered it all up nicely.

“Gelato on My Mind”

Gelato on My Mind is a pale minty blue creme. Shown here is two coats plus top coat. This is the shade that most caught my eye from this collection and let me tell you, this baby lives up to it’s expectations! Formula is perfect, coverage is perfect, leveling is perfect, and the shade… you guessed it… perfect! This one is a definite must have!

“Gimme a Lido Kiss”

Gimme a Lido Kiss is a warm toned red crelly with added pink and orange shimmer. Shown here is two coats plus top coat. Of the two reds in this collection, this is the one that I prefer. The warm tone compliments my skin better and the added shimmer gives it a nice pop.

  “I Cannoli Wear OPI”

I Cannoli Wear OPI is a very light grey creme. Shown here is three coats plus top coat. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this polish but I really like it! It was opaque in two coats but I added a third to smooth everything out . I’m sure that I could have just left it at two and the top coat would have leveled everything out but hey! Better safe than sorry!

“It’s a Piazza Cake”

It’s a Piazza Cake is a brown leaning dusty orange creme. Shown here is two coats plus top coat. Let me tell you, the formula is pretty freaking awesome. If you’re looking for a great Fall orange shade, look no further!

“My Gondola or Yours?”

My Gondola or Yours is a black creme with slight silver shimmer. Shown here is two coats plus top coat. I say slight silver shimmer because in most lighting, you can’t really see it. It took me a while to get the lighting just right to be able to photograph it.

The added shimmer is a nice touch and makes this polish unique – I just wish it was a bit more noticeable in person.

“O Suzi Mio”

O Suzi Mio is a dark eggplant creme. Shown here is two coats plus top coat. I love the richness and vampy vibe of this polish not to mention the formula is amazing! This is definitely a go-to fall shade for me.

“Purple Palazzo Pants”

Purple Palazzo Pants is a slightly pink toned lavender creme. Shown here is three coats plus top coat. I was a bit nervous before swatching this polish because in my experience good formulas do not go hand in hand with this shade of purple. I am happy to report that the formula here is quite nice! It is a little on the thin side but it applies very smoothly. I had no issues with leveling and the dry time made three coats a breeze.

 “Tiramisu for Two”

Tiramisu for Two is a blush nude creme and is the second of the two nudes in this collection. Shown here is two coats plus top coat. This one is the darker of the two but still not nude for me but again I don’t mind. I am SO impressed with the formula here. I’m actually a little shocked that I got such great coverage in only two coats. Of all the nude polishes that I have, this one definitely has one of the best formulas!

“Worth a Pretty Penne”

Worth a Pretty Penne is a rose gold and silver shimmer with a metallic sheen. Shown here is two coats plus top coat. I really like the combination of the rose gold and silver on this polish. Not only does it look great on its own, it also compliments a lot of the polishes in this collection!

Overall Thoughts

As a whole, I am really happy with this collection (minus Baroque… But Still Shopping)! I love how OPI stepped out of the traditional Fall color scheme by adding in a few lighter shades. Formulas are absolutely top notch! The cremes in this collection are some of the best they have ever done. I had absolutely no application issues on any of them which is rare for a collection this size.

My favorites (and this was tough!) are Gelato on My Mind, Tiramisu for Two, A Great Opera-tunity, and Worth a Pretty Penne.

This collection is also available in OPI GelColors for those that prefer gel over lacquer.

Each polish retails for around $9.50 and can be found at Ulta, Sally Beauty Supply, and other beauty supply stores.

So what are your thoughts on this collection? Are you happy with the color scheme or would you have rather seen something a little darker? Let me know in the comments below!
