Hello Everyone! Today… well tonight haha… I have swatches from Smitten Polish‘s new spring collection Flights of Fancy! This collection consists of six holographic polishes that have a slight metallic sheen to them and is available for pre-order now but will close 3/16 at 2pm central!

This collection follows the rainbow color scheme but as you will see, the shades are much softer. All swatches below were taken in indoor lighting.

“A Gross of Grossbeaks”

A Gross of Grossbeaks is a rose holographic polish. Pictured is two coats with top coat. Over the past couple months, I’ve picked up a few red holographic polishes and it’s nice to say that this polish is not like any that I currently own. This shade of red is very delicate and subtle allowing the slight metallic sheen to show through.

“A Parliament of Owls”

A Parliament of Owls is a lovely copper holo polish. Shown here is two coats with top coat. Great application, great formula! And that holo, gorgeous!

“An Opera of Canaries”

An Opera of Canaries is a lemon yellow holographic polish. Two coats with top coat. FINALLY, I own a true yellow holo polish. I feel like I have been searching for ages! And the best part? It’s perfect.

“A Shimmer of Hummingbirds”

A Shimmer of Hummingbirds is a vibrant green holographic polish. Here I have three coats with top coat. Not sure if this polish was a little sheerer than the other or if my first coat was too thin. Regardless, this polish is a stunner! It’s another shade that I have been looking for. The metallic sheen really shows through in this polish.

“A Bouquet of Warblers”

A Bouquet of Warblers is a beautiful sky blue holographic polish. Two coats with top coat. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. This is my favorite shade of blue so of course I love it!

“A Richness of Martins”

A Richness of Martins is a lavender holographic polish. Swatch is two coats with top coat. I would have to say that this polish is the most holographic of the six. The addition of the metallic sheen gives this holo polish a depth that I don’t think I’ve seen before. So, so gorgeous!

Overall Thoughts

When I first unwrapped my swatch package, I thought that Flights of Fancy would be just another rainbow-y holographic collection almost identical to that of Color Club’s 2013 Halo Hues. To my pleasant surprise, I was wrong! While there are a couple shades that are similar, the holo in this collection is very different. It’s very present in each polish but it’s just enough to where it doesn’t drown out the pigment. The amount of holo in this collection is just right.

In regards to the formula, it’s perfect! All but one were two coaters. Even when I had to apply a third coat, I didn’t mind at all. My favorites would have to be A Richness of Martins and An Opera of Canaries.
