Hello everyone! Happy Memorial Day! Today I have swatches of Ladybug Lacquer‘s Desert Days Collection and Quartz Duo.
Ladybug Lacquer is a brand new indie launching today! All of their polishes are 5-free (do not contain Toluene, Formaldehyde, DBP- Dibutyl Phthalate, Formaldehyde Resin, or Camphor) and a portion of each polish sold is donated to Rescue:Freedom. Rescue:Freedom focuses on providing holistic care to survivors of human trafficking, doing what they can to ensure long-term healing and resoration. How awesome is that?!
Desert Days consists of five polishes, each with a different finish and texture, and Quartz Duo consists of two textured glitter polishes.
All swatches were taken indoors with a combination of cree daylight bulbs and/or LED lightbulbs.
Desert Days
“Before the Sunrise”
Before the Sunrise is a shimmery duochrome that shifts between purple and blue. Pictured is three coats plus top coat. This polish is as you would expect for a duochrome – a bit sheer and slightly streaky in the first couple coats but definitely manageable. The color shift is best seen under direct indoor lighting, hence the glare in my swatch photo. This polish also has added shimmer which can be seen in the following macro.
And here’s a bottle photo so you can see the awesome shifts!
“Cactus Juice”
Cactus Juice is an emerald green jelly filled with micro holographic glitters. Shown here is two coats with top coat. This polish has a great formula and an excellent dry time! There are plenty of glitters packed in so there’s no need for fishing.
“Sunset Popsicles”
Sunset Popsicles is a neon orange creme. Shown here is three coats plus top coat. Although I needed three coats to achieve complete opacity, this polish was very easy to apply and control.
“Triple Digit Temps”
Triple Digit Temps is an orange-red slightly jelly linear holo with added pink flash. Shown here is two coats plus top coat. Such a gorgeous polish! I was able to get full coverage in one coat but I had a little bit of a VNL (visible nail line) so I added a second coat. This polish really fits well with the Desert Days theme.
“Wildflower Bouquet”
Wildflower Bouquet is a dusty purple scattered holo. Shown here is two coats with top coat. This polish can easily be opaque in one coat. Amazing formula and it also has a very fast dry time. As an added bonus it’s also a unique color! I’m definitely loving this one!
Quartz Duo
“Rose Quartz”
Rose Quartz is a rosey pink textured glitter polish with iridescent and holographic micro glitters. Two coats plus top coat. I didn’t realize that the duo was textured until after I swatched them so I am not able to comment on the textured finish. The formula is a little thick but I had no issues with application. As packed as this polish is with different glitters, it dries exceptionally well. The added holo glitters are what make this polish for me.
“Smokey Quartz”
Smokey Quartz is a rich brown textured glitter polish that also has added iridescent and holographic micro glitters. Shown here is two coats with top coat. This polish was noticeably thicker than Rose Quartz but again nothing that I couldn’t manage. Another polish that is both beautiful and unique!
Overall Thoughts
I think Ladybug Lacquer did very well with their debut collections. No major issues and most polishes had really great dry times! While there are several different textures/finishes, I think these collections are very cohesive. I like that there is a range because it shows that Ladybug Lacquer isn’t a one trick pony.
My favorites would be Triple Digit Temps, Wildflower Bouquet, and both polishes in the Quartz Duo. I really hope that the Quartz Duo is expanded because they are very unique polishes. While they are on the thick side, it’s nothing that a few drops of thinner can’t fix.
All of these polishes are available for purchase here and are available in full or mini size. Be sure to check out Ladybug Lacquer on Facebook and Instagram for more photos!
These polishes were provided for my honest review.
